Customization & Image Requirements

  • Vectorization for high-resolution ceramic printing. This is a critical step to ensure that bespoke (one-of-a-kind) and custom (client-specified modifications) designs remain sharp, scalable, and manufacturing-ready. If the customer provides a "crude sketch" or a low-resolution photo as a reference, we will "paraphrase" these into clean, symmetrical designs suitable for tiling. This service function independently. Price fluctuations for vectorization $25.00 - $95.00

Production

CPP (Ceramic Pigment Printing) is a permanent tile printing process where specialized pigments are fused directly into the porcelain or ceramic using high-temperature kiln firing. It creates highly durable, non-toxic, scratch-resistant, and UV-proof tiles suitable for harsh outdoor environments, swimming pools, and high-traffic floors
  • Durability: The ceramic (and/or porcelain) pigments melt into the glaze, ensuring the image will never fade, peel, or tarnish over time.
  • Outdoor & Pool Safe: CPP tiles withstand direct sunlight, severe weather, and even harsh graffiti-removal chemicals.
  • Finish & Color: They are generally only available in a semi-gloss finish. Because of the intense heat, kiln-fired tiles have a slightly less vibrant color spectrum than indoor-only sublimation prints.
  • Application: Ideal for residential patios, commercial walkways, outdoor wall murals, and waterlines or floors of swimming pools.
  • Design Application: Custom artwork or digital graphics are applied using high-definition ceramic (and/or porcelain) pigment printers.
  • Glazing: A protective glaze is added to the tile.
  • Firing: The tile is baked in a high-temperature kiln, permanently fusing the colors into the structural composition of the tile

Maintenance and Care

Phase 1: Routine Maintenance (Bi-Weekly-Monthly)

  • Remove loose debris: Use a soft-bristled broom or an outdoor vacuum to clear away leaves, twigs, dirt, and windblown sand.
  • Flush with clean water: Spray the mural thoroughly with a garden hose using a gentle spray or fan setting.
  • Avoid high pressure: Never use a pressure washer, as high PSI streams can degrade grout joints and crack delicate glazes.
  • Neutral cleaner: Mix a pH-neutral tile cleaner or mild dish soap with warm water in a clean bucket.
  • Use non-abrasive tools: Wipe the surface gently using a soft microfiber mop, cloth, or a non-scratch cellulose sponge.
  • Rinse away soap film: Spray the entire surface with clean water again to ensure no soapy residue remains to attract dirt.
  • Dry to prevent spots: Wipe the mural dry with a clean microfiber towel to prevent hard water spots and mineral streaks.

OUTDOOR TILE ART

Outdoor murals face harsh UV rays, heavy rain, and temperature fluctuations. Porcelain is the superior choice for an outdoor tile art mural, especially in a tropical climate like Puerto Rico, because it is denser, non-porous, and highly resistant to moisture.

Porcelain

Unprotected outdoor tile art faces severe thermal shock as tiles rapidly heat up during the day and cool down at night.
For a mural in full sun exposure, porcelain is absolutely required because its dense structure prevents the tile from warping, cracking, and fading under intense solar heat and UV radiation.

Full Sun Demands Porcelain

  • Thermal Shock Resistance: Porcelain handles rapid temperature swings without cracking.
  • UV-Stable Glazes: High-fire porcelain glazes fuse permanently to prevent fading.
  • Zero Warping: Dense porcelain resists expansion and contraction in intense heat.

  • Porcelain-Grade Thin-set:
High-performance, polymer-modified thin-set mortar rated for exterior porcelain.
  • Select UV-Resistant Grout:
High-performance, color-consistent cement grout or a high-grade exterior epoxy grout.

The Art of Permanence

How are your exterior luxury art murals created?

Our bespoke murals are engineered using Kiln-Fired Ceramic Pigment Printing (CPP), an advanced fusion process reserved for heirloom-quality architectural art. Rather than printing onto the surface with standard organic inks, we utilize rare, inorganic metallic oxides applied directly to premium porcelain substrates. The tile is then fired in industrial kilns at temperatures exceeding 2,100°F (1,150°C). At this intense heat, the glaze liquefies, capturing the pigments and chemically fusing the artwork into the glass matrix of the porcelain itself. The artwork does not sit on the tile; it becomes the tile.

Can these murals withstand direct, intense sunlight and UV exposure?

Yes, absolutely. Because we exclusively use inorganic metallic pigments instead of organic digital inks or sublimation dyes, our murals possess absolute UV stability. The intense sun exposure that fades traditional outdoor art over time has zero chemical effect on kiln-fused metallic oxides. The colors, depth, and gloss profile of your mural will remain as vibrant and breathtaking in thirty years as the day it was unveiled.

Are the porcelain tiles resistant to freezing temperatures and harsh weather?

Our murals are crafted exclusively on ultra-dense, low-porosity porcelain bodies that strictly comply with ANSI A137.1 luxury architectural standards. With a certified water absorption rate of under 0.5%, these tiles are completely impervious to moisture intrusion. This structural density prevents the tile from absorbing water, ensuring it will never crack, spall, or delaminate during extreme freeze-thaw cycles, sub-zero winters, or intense desert heatwaves.

How do the murals handle environmental hazards like pollution, sea salt, or graffiti?

Our high-temperature kiln firing yields an ultra-hard surface rating of MOHS 7, making the mural virtually scratch-proof and resilient against windborne sand erosion. The glass-fused surface is entirely non-porous and chemically inert. Atmospheric pollution, acid rain, and coastal sea salt cannot penetrate or corrode the art. Furthermore, the surface is inherently graffiti-resistant—spray paint, markers, and adhesives can be effortlessly power-washed or wiped away using standard solvent cleaners without damaging the artwork beneath.

What are the installation requirements for an exterior luxury mural?

To preserve the structural integrity of your investment, exterior murals require specialized architectural installation. We require the use of high-performance, polymer-modified thin-set mortars (complying with ANSI A118.15) and 100% solids epoxy grout to accommodate the natural thermal expansion caused by direct sunlight. Additionally, expansion joints must be integrated according to TCNA EJ171 guidelines to ensure the structure moves safely beneath the porcelain without putting stress on the artwork.

The 25-Year Architectural Permanence Warranty

At EGEArt Tiles and Fine Objects, we craft functional art designed to outlast generations. We provide an elite 25-Year Limited Architectural Warranty on all custom porcelain tile art murals specified for exterior facades, luxury landscapes, and direct-sun environments.

What is Covered:

  • Color Stability: We guarantee that the mural will not fade, discolor, shift in hue, or lose its original tonal depth due to ultraviolet (UV) radiation or direct sunlight exposure.
  • Surface Integrity: We guarantee the structural fusion of the artwork. The kiln-fused glaze will not peel, flake, blister, or delaminate from the porcelain substrate.
  • Impervious Weather : We guarantee that the porcelain substrate will resist frost-cracking and structural failure caused by natural freeze-thaw cycles.

Warranty Conditions:

This warranty is fully transferable to successive property owners, safeguarding the long-term appraisal value of the estate. To maintain coverage, the mural must be installed by a licensed tile professional adhering strictly to the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) guidelines for exterior vertical installations, utilizing approved ANSI A118.15 setting materials and appropriate thermal movement joints.

Phase 2: Seasonal Deep Cleaning (Every 3 to 6 Months)

  • Inspect the surface: Check the entire mural for structural shifts, hairline cracks, loose tiles, or deteriorating grout sections.
  • Address stubborn organic stains: Apply a specialized, non-acidic outdoor tile cleaner formulated to safely break down bird droppings and tree sap.
  • Target mold and mildew: Spray a diluted, bleach-free biological cleaner onto shaded areas showing green algae or black mold growth.
  • Allow dwelling time: Let the cleaning solution sit on the surface for 5 to 10 minutes without letting it dry out.
  • Scrub with soft agitation: Agitate stained areas gently using a soft-bristled nylon scrubbing brush in circular motions.
  • Perform a final flush: Rinse the entire installation thoroughly from top to bottom with a high-volume, low-pressure water hose.

Phase 3: Grout Care & Long-Term Preservation (Annually)

  • Clean the grout lines: Use a specialized grout brush and neutral cleaner to gently lift deep-seated dirt from the joints.
  • Avoid harsh acids: Never use hydrochloric, muriatic, or phosphoric acids, which permanently erode grout and ruin porcelain glazes.
  • Check grout integrity: Touch up any areas where grout has cracked, crumbled, or fallen out to prevent water infiltration.
  • Apply high-grade grout sealer: Treat cementitious grout lines with a premium, breathable penetrating sealer to repel water and oil stains.
  • Wipe excess sealer immediately: Buff away any sealer that gets onto the porcelain tile faces before it dries and hazes.
  • Manage surrounding vegetation: Trim back overhanging tree branches and climbing vines to prevent physical scraping and sap dripping.
